So here is my idea, in 2003 Jon decided to join the Army to pay for college instead of going to college and teching for bands. I don't know why yet maybe his dad lost his job or he broke up with his girlfriend. Or both yeah so his Dad loses his job and Cassie breaks up with Jon. Its pretty brutal he thinks she is his forever girl and boom she's like this is moving to fast and you want things I don't. And Jon did he wanted marriage or something like it and kids or something furry and vaguely resembling kids. So He's feeling super down his Dad isn't sure if he is going to be able to pay for Jon's first semester and even though he got early acceptance they are bugging him for his tuition check. the job market sucks and 504 plan just broke up. Jon is in a big fight with Tom over something too so basically he is feeling very alone. So he is surfing around online and he gets one of those obnoxious too broke for school emails he clicks on the link and it takes him to the army web site so he enters in some information and then forgets about it until the recruiter calls him three days later. I understand about this part because my brother is army basically they feed you a whole lotta shit about how great its going to be and how you probably won't even have to go to war if you pick this job or that job and boom they offer up the really tasty part. Sign on for 6 years and we will give you a fat sign on bonus. So Jon does it he doesn't talk to his Mom or his Dad or his brothers he just signs on the dotted line and tells his Mom and Dad at dinner. So Jon's family in my head is fairly hippie meaning they don't really believe in the whole war machine American way. So they freak out on him which just makes him even more determined to go through with this because dammit this is his life not theirs. So he joins and he goes to boot camp and it is terrible but awesome at the same time and he makes a shit ton of Buddies because that is what guys in the Army do. Time goes by and he gets stationed in Iraq and then comes home and then gets stationed in Afghanistan and then comes home and he loses half of a platoon to a fire fight and he gets trapped behind enemy lines and he watches his best friend get his head blown off by friendly fire in the middle of singing toxic by Britney Spears and he gets harder and harder and by his 8th tour in six years he doesn't even know how to live a normal life and he reups for 4 more years and then on his seventh tour he gets hurt really hurt and the Army says thanks son but you will never walk normal again and we don't need you anymore. So they send him home to Chicago and he can't walk normal anymore and his leg is a mess of scar tissue and when he closes his eyes all he sees is death and destruction. But his friends are still there and him and Tom had of course made up years and years ago and this is where it goes even more Au because I love all my Bandom bands and if I can fit them here there and everywhere I will. Especially since this universe is extremely self- indulgent. But lets just say that Ryan had went to college in Chicago and of course Spencer had followed him and Brendon had followed Spencer because OTP. I haven't quite figured out what I want them to do but I think I want Pete and Patrick to own a record/instrument store and Gerard and Mikey to own a comic store even though that is slightly cliche I might do it the other way around if I ever actually do anything about this but Ryan works at the comic book store. But anyways back to Jon so Jon spends about a million hours hiding in his room at his parents and messing with his guitar and skipping physical therapy and taking way to many pain pills which the Veterans Hospital hands out like tic tacs.So Jon is freaking out his anxiety level is so severe that they have him on Atavan and Valium plus anti depressants.But his parents think he's okay because he is hiding all of this from everyone because another thing the army teaches you is that you need to be strong and not bug anyone but your therapist about your emotional problems. So Jon starts going to school using his Gi Bill to pay for it since that was the whole point and he's quietly freaking out and not sleeping and spending a lot of time at the comic book store just hanging out talking to Ryan (who thinks he is omg super cute in Brendons words) Jon doesn't seem to realize that he is flirting with Ryan since another thing the army does is help you suppress any homosexual feelings you may have thought you had. So one day he's at the store just hanging out and car back fires and he drops to the ground covering up his head and screaming for his buddy. So anybody want it :)
